Here locally they are accidental catches while fishing for pike/bass. However Lake St.Clair, Upper Niagara River and even the Kawarthas (like Scugog) have numbers, while the first two are more size.

Yeah me too, but It's to tough here in pennsylvania....I gave up.. It's good out in western pennsylvania in a lake called pymatuning resevoir. Big tv show called "The Next Bite" Did a show out there. And man, if ya ever get the chance get to that lake.

We usually hit the water off Harry's Harbor place, and drift down a mile or so from there. I think we filmed this in June or July. It's been a couple years, and a lot of dives since. Good luck out there!

Leech Lake Minnesota September 2009 We hooked up a chicken carcass(our previous night's dinner) to a treble hook and casted it out there as a joke and WHAM! it got nailed. Who knew a chicken carcass was such a good topwater bait!!

I guided in Northern Ontario last summer at a lodge whose policy is catch and release for the big muskies. We used fish cradles to land the fish. I'd never used them before but was very impressed with how well they worked and the 100% success rate for fish preservation. The fish calm quickly and you can easily remove hooks at the side of the boat without taking the fish from water. I landed lots of 50+ inch fish and revived them all. A great tool for the true muskie fisherman who releases.

They are a crazy species, very hard to find and scarce , thats what makes fishing for them so fun, its a HUGE challenge..ive caught 1 or 2 muskies in my life and been fishing 13times in Manitoba/Ontario, for them every summer about...A fish of a Thousand Casts Ive heard...it gets quite frustrating tryin to find them

Why is everybody bashing pike? I've caught both, and I find both to be very enjoyable. Musky are fun because its more of a delayed gratification situation, where 1 or 2 fish a day is a good day. Pike, given the correct place and time are ravenous, catching dozens a day sometimes. Both fight hard, musky fight harder, but catching a 20 lb pike on a fly rod is no walk in the park

i'd suggest hiring a guide because they'll take you out on the water and teach you all about muskies and how to use the different lures and what kind of tackle to use for muskies. its a great sport but at times VERY challenging sport, which makes it all more rewarding when you catch one. good luck!

I was on Lake Minnetonka and I had my spinner 30 feet down while chatting with my bro and dad. The biggest damn Muskey or Pike nailed the spinner. I couldn't even hold the fish, my arms where going everywhere. It came up like a submarine and broke my line. It was really deep though, accident catch.

This section of the River has heavy, heavy current. Getting pushed into the bank and temporarily beached might have been a big plus. If It wouldn't have happened I could have easily ended up a mile downstream from where I hooked the fish. When I caught this musky I was fishing for spotted bass that average 10-12 inches with 8lb line. With the current and the light line controlling the fish was difficult. Last thing I needed to do was get broke off right at the boat in swift current w/o a net.

@PMBHstyle Thanks for watching. When a fish hits you've got a couple of options. Land him and take the bait out or let him break you off and swim around with the lure. Swiming with the lure is bad. It's best to win the battle and make a good release. I always do my best to ensure just that. I'm proud that I didnt break him off and let him swim with bait then turn the camera off and get rid of the footage. Fish was out of the water for a short time. He swam Off and lived and that makes me happy

i fugured that the line was wrapped when yopu pulled it in backwards. a fish or in this case a muskie can die if it happens often. especially when drained out as bad as this. but then again. catching a motherload like this is special. and i understand the kick it gives. so i wont argue with this case.

SVTneucka, I did my best man. I did my best. I know and am certain I had a good release and the fish made it. That fish was a beauty and I made sure he was swimming before I was gone. I stayed around a half an hour after the release just to make sure he was ok. This video was cut down so a lot got left out. It was well over 30 mins in all which made for a file that was way to large for the upload limit at the time. Thanks for watching Fishnwithjoe

I love when people catches and release. :) Me and my buddy went out fishing after pikes yesterday, we caught 2, 14 pounds, and One, big 20 pounds pike! We were so happy. We fished for 10 hours straight in lovely sun weather, like no wind at all. Just a lovely dag. :) We caught 7 pikes, and lost 2 :) All of them were released. Nice video, thanks for sharing.

The funny [and sad] part was that my brother who has special needs was fishing with me at the time and thought a big musky had eaten half the lure. His eyes were as big as saucers when we reeled the lure in so i didnt have the heart to tell him what had actually happened. He caught a big pike about a month ago and i told him it was a Musky. I love him so much i just want him to be happy.

I have to agree with tnargskoorb-my supervisor at work gave me 2 trainwrecks because I told him that I wanted some and I didn't have any.I live in a town that has a musky river not too far away so I went to try them out and the same thing happened -the arm broke off and the spinners were gone.I found out later that my supervisor only paid half price for them.I think this Schwartz guy is really ripping us off with this phony video.

I bought 3 Train Wrecks from Cabelas and tried them this very same way and the piece that goes up to where the spinners are snapped right off and when i brought them in much to my surprise half the lure was missing. I will be sending them back to Cabelas for a refund. I have trolled with similar lures before and never had this trouble.

Great Video!!! It is always soooo frustrating to finally get a musky follow but no strike. For some reason the musky are interested enough to follow to lure but just not enough to bite. This video proves maybe they are smarter than we thought. Look at how he tests out the lure by bumping it first!
